How It Works

The machine has a vibrating bed, which is sloped both end-to end and side-to-side. The bed is vibrated in such a way that it tends to throw seed to the high side (Fig. 1). Spherical seeds roll back down the slope, but nonspherical objects move toward the high side of the bed. At the same time, the longitudinal slope carries the seed from the seed drop point towards the low end, where spherical and nonspherical objects enter different hoppers (Fig. 2).
